About Us
The History of Tip Top®
Tip Top® Bakeries was started after World War 2 from the amalgamation of several small bakeries in NSW and Victoria. Since that time, Tip Top® Bakeries, as a division of George Weston Foods Limited (ACN 008 429 632), has continued to grow and prosper. This has been possible through re-building existing bakeries and also through the acquisition of bakeries throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, ACT, South Australia, and Western Australia.
During the past 50 years, Tip Top® Bakeries have built such household brand names as Sunblest®, 9Grain™, Sunblest® UP™ and of course Tip Top® itself.
Today, Tip Top® is the most recognisable food brand in Australia and a true Australian icon. Tip Top® bread has been enjoyed by generations of Australians, both young and old, because of its taste, texture and wholesomeness. The company's leadership and innovation will ensure Tip Top® Bakeries is a household name for generations to come.
The History of the Tip Top® Logo
The first Tip Top® logo appeared as a blue and red shield with Tip Top® written across the centre in white lettering. The shield was an easily identifiable symbol of Tip Top® quality products. As our brand name grew and extended into more Australian states it was felt that Tip Top® Bakeries needed a new, more descriptive logo. Our brand name had earned the reputation of "Australia's Number One" so a new logo was designed to reflect our service coverage. The logo evolved and appeared as a shield overlaid on a map of Australia. The Tip Top® logo was then trade marked in the 1970's. The newest and most recent logo (1999) is an evolution of the one designed in the 1970's, with a modern design and stylish appearance that is instantly recognisable.
