DO YOU USE ARTIFICIAL COLOURS, FLAVOURS OR PRESERVATIVES?
We are happy to report that there are no artificial preservatives, colours or flavours in any of our Tip Top® loaves.
WHAT PRESERVATIVES ARE USED? HOW DO YOUR BREADS STAY FRESH FOR SO LONG?
We use white vinegar to inhibit mould growth and help keep our loaves fresh.
WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
Each product has a best before date labelled on the bread tag or packet. For further information, please contact our consumer information team on free call 1-800-645-515.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE SLICED BREAD TO KEEP IT FRESH?
It’s best to always keep bread in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight. In the fridge, the loaf is more likely to dry out. Tip Top® bread is suitable for freezing for up to 4 months and best consumed immediately once thawed. If you wish to freeze your bread, please remember to put it in the freezer before the Best Before Date (BBD), which is found on the bread tag.
DO YOU USE BLEACHED FLOUR?
Tip Top® white bread definitely hasn’t been bleached with chemicals. We use only 100% unbleached Australian flour in all of our breads.
WHERE DO I FIND ALLERGEN INFORMATION?
All allergens are clearly marked near the ingredient listing on Tip Top® bread packaging. For further information, please contact our consumer team on 1800 645 515.
IS WHITE BREAD GOOD FOR ME?
All bread contains carbohydrates, fibre and plant proteins that are necessary as part of a balanced diet. Experts recommend that grains and cereal foods should make up about a third of our diet2. For more information, and to find out “Which bread is right for you?” visit the A Grain of Truth website on www.agrainoftruth.com.au
DO I HAVE TO CUT OUT BREAD IF I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT?
Diets are difficult to sustain and, ultimately, they deprive you of essential nutrients that only balanced eating can offer. In the case of cutting out bread, this means you would miss out on important nutrients like fibre, plant protein and whole grains.
WHAT NUTRIENTS DOES BREAD HAVE?
Bread contains a combination of fibre, plant protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.
DO YOU ADD SUGAR TO SLICED WHITE BREAD?
Tip Top® does not add sugar to its white, wholemeal or multigrain loaf bread.
IF THERE’S NO ADDED SUGAR IN SLICED BREADS, THEN WHY IS SUGAR IN THE NUTRITION INFORMATION PANEL?
The small amount of sugar present is usually naturally occurring sugars from other ingredients and produced by the yeast during the fermentation process.
WHAT IS LOW GI?
The Glycemic Index (GI) is a rating of carbohydrate foods from 0-100. Low GI foods are rated less than 55. Tip Top® 9 Grain™ products are certified low GI. For more information about GI and its benefits visit http://www.gisymbol.com/
WHAT IS DIETARY FIBRE?
Dietary fibre is the part of plants, which passes mostly undigested through the stomach and small intestine.
WHAT TYPES OF FIBRE ARE IN BREAD?
Bread contains several types of dietary fibre – insoluble fibre, soluble fibre and resistant starch.
HOW DOES BREAD CONTRIBUTE TO FIBRE INTAKE OF AUSTRALIANS?
Grain foods provide 46% of the fibre in the Australian diet, more than any other food group, and breads are one of the leading contributors3.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO ADD SALT TO BREAD?
Salt is an essential ingredient in bread, contributing to both functionality and flavour of the loaf.
WHAT IS A WHOLE GRAIN?
A whole grain kernel has 3 layers. Whenever you eat bread that is made with whole grain flour and/or whole grains, all these components of the grain are present in the same proportions as a whole grain kernel.
Tip Top® is registered with the Grains & Legumes Nutrition Council’s Code of Practice for Whole Grain Ingredient Content Claims. For more information about this and the benefits of whole grains visit http://www.glnc.org.au/
HOW MUCH WHOLE GRAIN DO I NEED?
